WHAT IS ISO 22000:2018?
- ISO 22000:2018 – Food Safety Management System (FSMS) is developed based on the High-Level Structure (HLS), enabling easy integration with other widely adopted management systems (such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, etc.) and ensuring international harmonization in the field of food safety.
- ISO 22000:2018 was published on 19 June 2018 by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), replacing ISO 22000:2005. This is the latest standard specifying the fundamental requirements for a Food Safety Management System (FSMS).

- ISO 22000:2018 is designed based on the implementation of HACCP and GMP principles throughout the entire food chain. Accordingly, the identification of critical processes, hazard analysis, determination of Critical Control Points (HACCP), and the establishment of prerequisite programs for safe food production (PRPs), together with the implementation of appropriate control measures and the practice and monitoring of compliance, are considered key elements in ensuring the provision of safe food. This applies to all organizations involved in the food chain, both directly and indirectly.

WHO CAN APPLY FOR ISO 22000:2018 CERTIFICATION?
- The Food Safety Management System (FSMS) is applicable for certification to organizations/businesses involved in production, trading, and services within the food sector.
- From organizations with one employee to thousands or tens of thousands of employees; from individual or household businesses to private companies, state-owned enterprises, limited liability companies, or joint-stock companies—any organization engaged in food production, trading, or services is eligible to apply for ISO 22000 certification.

WHAT IS THE VALIDITY PERIOD OF THE ISO 22000 CERTIFICATE?
➡️ The ISO 22000:2018 certificate is typically valid for three (3) years from the date of issuance. Upon expiration, the organization is required to undergo a recertification audit to be issued a new certificate with a further validity of three (3) years.

AFTER ISO 22000:2018 FOOD SAFETY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM CERTIFICATION IS GRANTED, IS THE ORGANIZATION REQUIRED TO UNDERGO ANNUAL SURVEILLANCE AUDITS?
- After being granted the ISO 22000:2018 certificate, which is valid for three (3) years, the organization is required to undergo annual surveillance audits (once every 12 months) in accordance with the requirements of the accreditation body.
- In the event that the organization fails to conduct the required annual surveillance audit at the scheduled time, the ISO 22000:2018 Food Safety Management System certificate shall be suspended or withdrawn in accordance with applicable regulations.
