ISO 14001:2026 – ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS OFFICIALLY PUBLISHED ON 15 APRIL 2026

According to official information from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the ISO 14001:2026 – Environmental Management Systems standard was formally published on 15 April 2026, replacing the current ISO 14001:2015 version.

1. Overview of ISO 14001:2026

The new version maintains the core structure of ISO 14001 while incorporating updates to address modern environmental requirements and global sustainability trends.

Key directions include:

- Enhancing environmental management effectiveness and performance outcomes

- Emphasizing climate change and sustainable development considerations

- Improving the structure for greater clarity and ease of implementation

- Strengthening environmental risk management and operational performance

The new version of ISO 14001:2026 – Environmental Management Systems was officially published on 15 April 2026.

Implications for Certified Organizations

- ISO 14001:2026 will officially replace ISO 14001:2015

- Organizations currently certified to the 2015 version are required to transition to the new version

- A transition period (typically around three years) is expected, in accordance with regulations from the IAF and accreditation bodies
